Can you wash a Dryrobe?

Yes! If your Dryrobe Advance or Towel Dryrobe gets dirty, you can wash them.

How often do you wash a Dryrobe?

Wash your Towel Dryrobe as often as your regular beach towel. However, you don’t need to wash your Dryrobe Advance regularly. Limit how often you wash it to maintain the Dryrobe’s waterproof outer shell and functionality.

Can you put a Dryrobe in the washing machine?

The Dryrobe Advance is machine washable if necessary. However, we always recommend washing it in the GuppyFriendly Washing Bag or using a washing machine filter to help reduce the flow or microplastics from entering your drain and the water system. If you need to put it in the washing machine, following the steps below is the best way to clean it and retain its waterproof properties.

On the other hand, a Towel Dryrobe is easily machine washable.

How do you wash a Dryrobe?

If you do need to wash your Dryrobe Advance, follow these steps:

  1. Turn your Dryrobe inside out and place it in the GuppyFriendly Washing Bag.
  2. Use a Tech Wash re-waterproofing detergent, and make sure your washing machine tray is detergent-free.
  3. Put your machine on a cold wash or a delicate cycle at 30 degrees MAX!

We always recommend washing it cold by hand instead of the washing machine, which will help your garment’s functional and waterproof properties last longer.

To wash your Towel Dryrobe, simply place it in the washing machine and wash it at a cold temperature with regular detergent. Swimming pool chlorine and exposure to the sun may lightly bleach your Towel robe, so some colour lightening and discolouration will occur over time if exposed to these.

How to clean a Dryrobe

If your Dryrobe gets dirty with mud or sand, you can shake it or clean the impacted area with a damp sponge. This method will keep your Dryrobe clean, without the risk of losing its waterproof layer in the washing machine. Follow these easy steps to clean your Dryrobe by hand.

  1. Shake or brush off any dried mud, dirt or sand.
  2. Fill a bathtub with cold water and add a Tech Wash detergent.
  3. Gently scrub areas with stains or dirt using a soft cloth or sponge.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove detergent residues.

How to re-waterproof a Dryrobe

The Dryrobe Advance is treated with an eco-friendly, PFC-free, durable water-repellent finish (DWR), which protects you from wind and rain. However, if you’ve thoroughly worn or washed your Dryrobe Advance multiple times, you may need to revitalise the DWR.

If water is no longer beading on the surface of your Dryrobe, you know it’s time to add another layer of DWR treatment, like Nikwax.

We recommend using Nikwax Tech Wash and the Nikwax TX Direct to re-waterproof your Dryrobe. You can also use the Nikwax Tech Wash multiple times when washing or cleaning your Dryrobe without needing to re-waterproof it, as the Tech Wash will clean your Dryrobe without removing the DWR as detergents do.

Once your Dryrobe Advance has been washed, lay it flat on the floor to dry at room temperature. Never expose the inner lining of your Dryrobe to heat sources, and never put it in the tumble dryer, as this can impact the moisture-wicking qualities. You can simply lay your garment flat in a ventilated area if you need to dry it.

It is important to make sure your Towel Dryrobe is dry after use or washing. Make sure you pop it in the tumble dryer on a low setting for the best results.

How to fold a Dryrobe

On adventure days, sometimes, the place where you park your car is far from the body of water you want to get to. If you have a lot to carry, your Dryrobe can often feel cumbersome when you have your watersports equipment. Luckily, you can still benefit from having your Dryrobe near the water with the help of the Compression Backpack or Compression Travel Bag. This handy bag helps easily carry your Dryrobe from your car to your adventure zone.

Storing your Dryrobe can also be an issue due to its bulky nature. So, whether you’re storing or transporting your Dryrobe, here’s how to fold a Dryrobe into your compression bag for the best transportation or storage method.

  1. Lie your Dryrobe flat and do up the zips.
  2. Grab one side’s bottom edge and shoulder and fold it to create a third. Fold the sleeve downwards.
  3. Do the same on the other side.
  4. Roll the Dryrobe tightly from the bottom.
  5. Tuck the rolled Dryrobe into the hood for secure storage.
  6. If you’re transporting your Dryrobe, place this rolled-up Dryrobe in the compression bag.
  7. Roll over the opening and clip the top.
  8. Twist the valve open to let air out.
  9. Squash the air out, kneeling on the bag.
  10. Pull the compression straps tight and, finally, twist the valve closed.
